Final Project

About the Author

My writing history has been mostly limited to school. Any writing I did outside of school was for school. Since this class has started I have begun to keep a journal in my free time. Over this semester I feel like I became a better writer. NaNoWriMo really helped me to push me to think about actually writing a full story with lots of details. Overall, I think this semester has helped me to become a better writer. I would define my writing style as writing about the future. I like to think about the present world and twist it into a dystopian vision of the future.

My chosen piece is a Tanka that we wrote in class. I based it off of my novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo a few months back. I really liked my novel so I tried to fit some elements of my novel into other styles we wrote. Out of all of my pieces about my novel, this one was my favorite because it really describes how my characters were feeling. I honestly really like writing Tankas so I felt like this was a good mesh of the two things I liked the most during the semester.

STUCK

Today is the day

I will finally go home.

No more dull, grey walls.

I will bathe in the sunlight.

The white doors close. I am stuck.
